Autodesk 3DS MAX 2020 2020.3.2 !!BETTER!!

When installing the 3ds Max 2020.3.2 update, it gets to the step "Installing Autodesk 3ds Max 2020.3.2 SF" and stops (indefinitely, or hours). There's no disk or network activity. We need a solution for deployment in a large organization.

I took a look at the post you shared, it seems community members agree that the installation process for the 3ds Max 2020.3.2 is slower then expected. I will reach out to a product expert @cantind on the 3ds Max team for more input.

For the 2020 update installers, the explanation from @spacefrog in this old post Re: Slow SP2 install?!? is fair: "All those entries and files get constantly checked and re-verified during the patch install because of the way the windows installer patch mechanism works...Only thing that could be done IMHO is not using windows installer patch mechanism at all for those parts or maybe exclute them somehow from rechecking. But i'm not sure that this is technically even possible, as those are parts of the main "product" installIn my eyes the Windows installer is the worst installer ever invented, as developer i would never use it because all the hassles it can cause"I hope this is a satisfactory answer and that it show that we took this problem seriously, sorry for the inconveniences for pre 2021 versions.

@cantind From what I understand, 3ds Max 2021 requires that users have an Autodesk ID? Public sector privacy laws don't allow us to send student information outside of the country. We will have to use 2020 either indefinitely, or until Autodesk supports federated IDs like Adobe and others currently support.

Which version of 3ds Max 2020 are you using? You can find the build version from 3ds Max main menu, Help, Autodesk Product Information, About 3ds Max. If you are not on the latest 3ds Max 2020.3.2 Security Fix, I strongly suggest you upgrade, since we have fixed an OBJ import geometry issue.
